Nozzle Manufacturer Briefly Discusses Causes and Countermeasures of Pick-and-Place Machine Component Rejection
In the SMT production process, controlling production costs and improving production efficiency are key concerns for enterprise owners and engineers—and these are closely related to the pick-and-place machine's component rejection rate. The nozzle manufacturer will discuss the issue of component rejection in pick-and-place machines.
The so-called "component rejection" refers to the phenomenon where the pick-and-place machine picks up a component but fails to place it, instead discarding it into the reject bin or other locations. It also includes cases where the machine performs the rejection action without successfully picking up the component. Component rejection leads to material waste, prolongs production time, reduces production efficiency, and increases production costs. To optimize efficiency and lower costs, it is crucial to address the problem of high component rejection rates.
1. Nozzle Issues
Deformed, clogged, or damaged nozzles cause insufficient air pressure and air leakage, resulting in failure to pick up components, improper pickup alignment, or failure to pass recognition—ultimately leading to component rejection.Countermeasures: Clean or replace the nozzles.
2. Positioning Issues
Pickup not centered on the component, or incorrect pickup height (typically pressing 0.05mm downward after contacting the component) causes misalignment. The misaligned component fails to match the corresponding data parameters during recognition and is discarded as invalid by the recognition system.Countermeasures: Adjust the pickup position.
3. Recognition System Issues
Poor vision performance, contaminated vision or laser lenses (with debris interfering with recognition), improper selection of recognition light source, insufficient light intensity or grayscale, or a faulty recognition system.Countermeasures: Clean the surface of the recognition system to keep it free of contamination, adjust the light source intensity and grayscale, or replace defective parts of the recognition system.
